Editorial Assessment
The first step of editing is communicating with the author about goals, time frame, and needs for a particular project. This step is done via email, phone, or video conferencing and is crucial to forming a determination about the relationship as well as the project at hand. At this point, we agree mutually to a deadline and a fee structure for services requested.
Developmental Editing
You have a brilliant gem of an idea! Perhaps a document in an archive is pushing you to consider a new perspective or a new project? A photograph haunts your mind and you can't stop writing about it? An idea came to you at 3 a.m. and you feel drawn to write about it?
Our developmental editing process will get you from this idea and into some questions (some more challenging than others) to pursue how -- even if -- you want to write beyond the idea. Even if you decide that you do not want to pursue the idea further, the process itself is quite engaging!
Copy Editing
This is the core of our professional service. We carefully review, revise, edit, and/or rewrite copy with authorial voice and readership in mind. The focus here is on structure, flow, consistency, and comprehension of your written work. We have worked with hundreds of authors -- MA and PhD students, professional and public academics, and fiction writers -- for over 20+ years providing excellent editorial advice, support, and assistance with placement in disciplinary and multidisciplinary academic journals and presses as well as mainstream publishing houses.
Proofreading
Once your words have been fine tuned to your satisfaction, we will proofread your work to ensure it is free from spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors. We will also work to assure that any citations are noted properly through Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, or APA.
Ongoing Support
Writing is a difficult challenge that does not come easy to most people. Writer's block is real! While we want to help you improve content, we also work to help you envision and break whatever may block your writing flow. Support from us is always just an email away!

Our rates are the same for people for whom English is not their first language. Our goal is to help you reach your desired audience, not discriminate.
